What are you doing getting your breads from anywhere else? Every diasporic immigrant parent that exists in Long Beach has found a way to integrate the bread at Babettes into their food. It shows up in Mexican tortas, but it also shows up in Cambodian curries. And in that sense, Babettes, being a european style bakery has been able to be fully integrated into the city and its community. Nestled in the shopping plaza that has been threatened with a fire and demolition, they are turning out products everyday. It's very regular to walk out with a brown bag of bread with the risk of it falling out in the parking lot. Their pastries are also so good, imagine finding french macaroons, slices of artisanal cakes, cookies... always give the kid the classic half dipped cookie. Their savory food is just as good and well stacked. This place has probably fed most of the Polytechnic high school population. Its interior is so tuscan grandma it's like a getaway where you can pretend you're in a European style cafe.

Hidden gem of a French bakery tucked in an inconspicuous strip mall near Poly high school. My favorite is the Portuguese egg tarts, but you can't go wrong with anything. Take and bake chicken pot pies are splendid as well.

I needed a cheesecake for my boyfriend's 26th, and they delivered perfectly. Whats crazy is that the employee in the bakery at Vons told me about the place because she works there too and said it was better so I'm glad I listened to her.

Love love love Babette Bakery! My mom even loves this bakery, she loves their bread! I ordered a 10 inch fruit tart cake and the chocolate on top for the writing, and it came out beautiful! The cake was delicious, it was a perfect combination of tart and fruit. These cakes are usually a party favorite for my family. The chocolate on top was yummy, and the writing on top was beautiful. The employees here are very nice and quick. The website wasn't working, but luckily I was able to call about all the questions I had. I ordered my cake and picked it up about 4 days later. However, I noticed a lady ordering a big tres leches cake, and she was able to get "Happy Birthday" written on it so you may have luck getting a birthday cake the day of. The bakery itself is very clean and nicely decorated! There's plenty of seating and tables, and the pastries on display look yummy. I like the theming of the bakery, it's very bright and open. I would come here again because there's tons of pastries here that I want to try, and they even make sandwiches and soup!

Now that my spot has been discovered I must write a favorable review. We, as in our whole family, have been coming here for years. We Salvy we know our bread and this by far the best pan Frances or what people call bolillos or French bread in town. The food they serve is even awesome, especially a milanesa sammich that is fire! Great price and great service. The holidays does get jammed here. LB spot for sure!

This place shares its name with my mother so I had to stop by. Excellent bread, sandwiches & pastries. Solid prices and friendly staff. I love independently owned places and I wish them continued success.

After having french baguettes for breakfast in Paris and Tahiti nearly everyday on our vacations, I really had a craving for it with salted 'Europen' style butter after coming back to LBC. Had no idea that Babette's was here until finding it under 'baguettes', so decided to stop by after 8 am on a weekday the next day. It is located in a half empty strip mall, so plenty of close-by parking. It was fairly busy inside, with folks leisurely enjoying their breakfast, while others ordering to-go. Two nice ladies were working the counter, and efficiently helped us. They still have sandwiches available (with the kitchen being closed for now), but we focused (and bought) three things to go: baguettes: they have three different styles all for $2.50 - traditional, sour dough, and authentic. we picked up each of the last two. The authentic was so good, smaller than the rest: crispy and chewy, sliced with some salted butter. Best french bread we've eaten in LBC. We'll eat the sour dough one with our dinner later. croissants: really large croissants ($2.35). way too valuable to use as a sandwich bread...meant to be torn apart by hand, savoring each ripped, buttery piece...going great with a rich coffee. macaron: i always thought macarons were Italian (silly me)...they have different flavors of these for $2.15 each. Tried the chocolate, passion fruit, caramel sea salt. Daughter gave big thumbs up for the caramel (others saved for later). Super glad that Babette's is located so close to us, enough to justify just coming in for baguettes whenever we 'need' fresh european style bread (since freshness is critical), and the prices are great. Feel lucky that Long Beach has this place.
